Green Coke
Green Coke is the raw material for producing calcined coke.
Green Coke has heavier fraction compared to fuel oil, therefore it caloric equivalent/rate is lower than fuel oil, viz around 7500-8500k.cal/KG.
However, Green Coke in terms of caloric value has higher caloric than coal viz 5000-6000K.cal/KG.
Green Coke has higher calorific value compared to coal and contains low ash value.
Green Coke can be applied as reductor electrode on the electrolysis process of aluminium industry. Also as solid fuel in such industries as Tin, Cement, Power station, Steel and Aluminium.

After being cleaned, anode scrap can be reused in the process of producing anode materials. Anode scrap can be divided into different sizes by crushing and screening. It is used as a kind of aggregate in the process of producing anode carbon block or anode paste. It can also be used as the smelting fuel.
Anode Scrap is the residual part of prebaked anode carbon block which is used in the electrolytic tank18. Reacting with electrolyte over a long period of time, anode scrap has high element of electrolyte, including aluminum, sodium, potassium, calcium, magnesium, lithium, fluorine etc. Anode scrap is high in calorific value and low in moisture; the calorie of 1t anode scrap is equivalent to that of 1.5t metallurgical coke. Both blast furnace coke and foundry coke are made by baking a blend of selected coking coals in certain high temperature without contact with air until almost all of the volatile matter is driven off. The resulting product, coke, consists principally of carbon, as listed in above table. By-products are crude coal tar, light oils, and ammonia, etc.
Generally speaking, chemistry, size, and strength have been considered the most important properties for use in the blast furnace. Other important factors are coke reactivity and CSR (coke strength after reactivity), which deal with the amount and size of pores and walls, porosity, and density. Carbon textures and microstructure are two main factors that affect the reactivity, stability, and the coke strength after reaction.
To produce high quality blast furnace coke, high quality coals must be used and properly mixed. High quality coals are those coals that, when coked together, produce the highest "stability" and CSR to support the blast furnace burden and allow maximum wind for maximum production. Both blast furnace coke and foundry coke are made by baking a blend of selected coking coals in certain high temperature without contact with air until almost all of the volatile matter is driven off. The resulting product, coke, consists principally of carbon, as listed in above table. By-products are crude coal tar, light oils, and ammonia, etc.
Generally speaking, chemistry, size, and strength have been considered the most important properties for use in the blast furnace. Other important factors are coke
reactivity
and CSR (coke strength after reactivity), which deal with the amount and size of pores and walls, porosity, and density. Carbon textures and microstructure are two main factors that affect the reactivity, stability, and the coke strength after reaction.
To produce high quality blast furnace coke, high quality coals must be used and properly mixed. High quality coals are those coals that, when coked together, produce the highest "stability" and CSR to support the blast furnace burden and allow maximum wind for maximum production. Chinese coke is reportedly having higher CSR in comparison with the steel manufacturer
